Racial Double Standards

I planned for my first blog of 2021 to be about purpose and doing what God has called you to do. I know that last year was filled with a lot of suffering and pain, but God has kept you and me. He allowed us to see 2021, many people didn’t get to see a new year. I have that blog post planned for a later date…

I cannot ignore the issues that are going on in our country right now. January 6, 2021 is a reminder of the double standard that exists in the United States between people of color and whites. By now, I’m pretty sure that the world has seen the rioters who were White ambush the Capitol in Washington D.C. after President Donald Trump encouraged them to refuse to accept the outcome of the presidential election. It has been seen that the rioters pushed through police officers to storm their way through the Capitol to stop the congressional sessions and inflicted fear over politicians who sprinted out of the halls. They held confederate flags (which that alone should be a crime), invaded the balconies and floor of the Capitol. However, being outnumbered, the police officers was able to show restraint. When it comes to people of color, they escalate. Police Officers beat, tear gassed and arrested protesters who march and shouted out to end social injustice. Yes, there were some who were not there for the cause, but to take advantage of the situation and acted out in violence. Yet, on yesterday Trump supporters who raided the Capitol made it out alive and unharmed. If those people would have been black, there would have been dead bodies everywhere and they would have called it “justifiable.” In fact, if they were black, they would have never been able to even make it inside, they would been shot before making it to the top of the stairs. President Trump sicced the national guard on the Black Lives Matter protesters, but did not when his supporters raided the Capitol causing serious damage and sadly shooting a woman who later died. President Trump is to blame for invoking the riot, but only partly. His supporters are responsible for their own actions and should be held accountable as should President Trump. I’m not surprised at all about any of this, I knew something was going to pop off. President Trump has been inciting violence for months and has been trying to ignite a race war. For those of us who are Kingdom Citizens, we need to be praying for our country and our leaders.

As a person living with a disability challenge is part of my life. I struggled with my identity and I recognize that I still have insecurities to face, but that doesn't mean I can't walk in everything God has purposed me to walk in despite my insecurities. Because of the nature of my condition and physical disability, God's grace is evident in my life everyday and I find strength in the word of God that says in Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through him who gives me power". (CJB).

  1. Kim, what took place at the White House was chaotic. Like you mentioned, with the results of the election, it was bound for something to happen. Sadly events took place but looking at things, it seems like many more things are on the way. With the new year just starting, it’s too early for all of this mess but I am not surprised at all. May peace reign in our nation 🙏🏿.

  2. I’m disgusted, tired, and angry. I know as a Christian I’m supposed to be none of those things but I see so many Christians still supporting this man and his actions. I’d rather have a president who supports “love one another” than a president who promotes division, hatred, and bigotry. What we saw yesterday was atrocious. And the people defending it with but they weren’t really Trump supporters are equally as awful because whoever they were, they are still walking around today and we all know that would not be the case had this been a BLM protest or had they been black and brown people. I know the end times philosophies tell us to expect worse, but I never imagined a race war in the 2020s. It’s unbelievable this is still a thing centuries later. 😢

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Shell. We are living in the last days, things are not going to get better the Scriptures says the world will wax worse and worse, I believe we haven’t seen nothing yet.

  3. Hi Kim, I’m a white person, but I’m as disgusted and perplexed at these events as you are. I agree, the outcome would have been so different had the protestors been mainly black people. As a Christian, I cannot understand how some of my fellow Christian bloggers continue to support Donald Trump, given the unrest and violence that he incites. I pray to God that things start to improve when Joe Biden becomes president, though he will have an extremely difficult task to even begin to sort out the mess that Trump has created.
I am so terribly sad to see what is taking place in America and I continue to pray for peace throughout the world.

    1. Thanks for sharing Lesley ♥️… President Trump is dangerous and I definitely believe that the 25th amendment should be envoked. On other hand, with President Elect Biden and his liberal stance we are going to see a lot of demonic things happening. Thank you for standing in prayer with us in the USA, we need to be praying like never before. This is when the church is going have to be the church, be bold in our stance for what the Bible teaches.
