Taken Without Incident

Man arrested by police after commiting a crime.

One of the most obvious and what is seen as the black chorus is how white suspects are treated less harshly than black suspects. One of the issues for blacks is how often we notice when white men commit heinous crimes and are gently taken into custody by law enforcement. The response is always “if they were black, they would’ve….”Scott Greene opened fire on police officers, killed two people after eluding police for hours after he was finally caught across country he was apprehended without incident (I wonder if the police officer bought him something to eat too?). The reason Caucasian criminals are always taken into custody alive and unharmed as opposed to African Americans are for a few reasons:

Black Men Have Superpowers

Sounds ridicules doesn’t it? However, that is the explanation cops routinely give for killing a black man after they are subdued. Alton Sterling was handcuffed and lying on the ground but was apparently so dangerous the police officer still needed to put a bullet in his head. Terence Crutcher was seen on video with his hands in the air, but the police officer who murdered him stated she saw him reach inside his vehicle even though the window was rolled up. Kenneth Walker was on his knees and shackled when he was shot in the head by a Sheriff’s Deputy with a sub-machine gun– because you know how quick black men hands move so even when you are watching their hands they still pose an imminent threat. I guess because black men have innate strength and the ability to break chains.

White Men Aren’t Dangerous

You must understand that white men aren’t as dangerous as black men. When cops gunned down John Crawford in Walmart for purchasing a BB gun posed a far more imminent threat than two drunk white men who actually had loaded guns and opened fired at customers in Walmart; but here it is again taken into custody without incident. Philando Castile was honest with the officer that he was armed, but still died reaching for papers. Twelve-year-old  Tamir Rice was a threat when the police officers shot him upon arriving at the scene because he was playing with a toy gun in a park. But police officers took cover while talking 25-year-old Jed Frazier down as he pointed a loaded rifle at them. Mike Brown needed to be shot eight times for the penalty for stealing swisher sweets. Oh, but black women get unjustly murdered by police officers too. If Sandra Bland hadn’t committed the unspeakable crime of copping an attitude with the officer, maybe she would still be alive today. If only black women had the privilege of being more like Julia Shields who went on a shooting rampage that resulted with the police officers staring at the end of her rile. She was—yep, you guessed it, taken without incident. It’s been said there are valid reasons why white people always make it to the police station unscathed and of course none of those reasons is related to racism; it’s about a wide range of extenuating circumstances that white lives are handled differently than the lives of people of color. A comment was made to me that mistakes were made on both the police officer and George Floyd’s side that resulted in his death. They stated it was the police officers fault because they didn’t have him properly subdued and Floyd escalated the situation by resisting arrest and that he should have gotten in the car peacefully then he wouldn’t have gotten killed. Oh, and they threw in that George Floyd was a drug user and mentally ill. George Floyd was on the ground handcuffed with his hands behind his back at this point he did not pose a threat; it did not take three police officers to lean into his back and neck and even after George Floyd’s body became lifeless the officer still had his knee to his neck. Even if George Floyd had mental health issues and was a drug user that has nothing to do with the alleged crime that lead to his unjust murder; the past of a black man always gets exploited in the media to justify the murder. Satan has many people deceived; they are deceived because of their supposedly view of the superiority of their race and others who deny that they’re viewed as the superior race and because of that it grants them privilege in every area of life. It is not until they understand that it is their privilege that Satan uses for the degeneration of another race; they may not want to admit it and deny it on every hand, but their privilege is the black community’s burden and demise.

As a person living with a disability challenge is part of my life. I struggled with my identity and I recognize that I still have insecurities to face, but that doesn't mean I can't walk in everything God has purposed me to walk in despite my insecurities. Because of the nature of my condition and physical disability, God's grace is evident in my life everyday and I find strength in the word of God that says in Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through him who gives me power". (CJB).
